My Momma said Sonny, here's your new guitar
I brought it with the money I been saving in my jar
It ain't really new but it plays like Earnie sings
A few scratches here and there and just a couple dings

Then she said make sure you play it
Every other day
And be sure and add your story boy
Of what you're wanting to say
You can talk to God as your friend and pray everyday
You can be like that train stay on the track

While Daddy spoke with his eyes
And every day he went to work
After saying his goodbyes
